It will depend on the type of GLUE you are referring to. IF water based it will be diluted -say like FEVICOL it will become thin and will take longer to bond/set within the wood/plywood / laminate surfaces. Can be useful on certain softwoods like shola from which you craft artifacts.

Can be useful on certain softwoods like shola from which you craft artifacts.If it is other than waterbased glue- addition of water will spoil the glue rendering it non-usable. Solvent based glue like FEVICOL SR998 or 505 or Foamfix can be diluted only with toluene even thinner will not help. Epoxies are 100% solids so ARALDITE or FEVITITE or BONDTITE two component systems can not be added with water or for that matter can not be thinned as it is a different chemistry of EPOXY and POLYAMIDE cross linking.
