If the concentration happens to be more than that of the cells (which is the most likely case) , cells will loose water (could be imagined as, in an effort to equal the concentrations on the both sides of the membranes).

Whereas, if the concentration happens to be lesser than that of the cells, i.e. more water less solute as compared to the cells, cells will gain water (again, to balance the concentrations).

What is interesting is, the presence of cell wall doesn't interfere with the process, since it is permeable to almost everything.
