-The electric shock acts like a very strong nerve electrical signal. Normally the brain stimulates muscles by sending electric signals via nerves.

So when an electric shock occurs, it stimulates muscles strongly and that’s why there might be a lot of movement - it’s also why someone can’t let go of the object giving the shock, because the muscles of the hand are stimulated by the electricity.

-It also stimulates sensory nerves, and can cause burns as well as tissue damage as it travels up the nerves.

-The effect is physiologically the same as damage caused by an open flame or other high-temperature source of heat, except that electricity has the ability to burn tissue well beneath the skin of a victim, even burning internal organs.

-As electric current is conducted through a material, any opposition to that flow of electrons results in a release of energy, usually in the form of heat.The effect on living tissue: current makes it heat up. If the amount of heat generated is sufficient, the tissue may be burnt.

-If the current is strong enough, it can cause the heart to fibrillate. This means that the heart stops beating rhythmically, and beats very fast - so fast that the blood isn’t actually getting pushed out of the heart and round the body.This can quickly lead to the heart stopping altogether as the heart muscle itself isn’t getting a blood supply which it needs in order to pump.
