hello friend
if the intermolecular spaces are reduced b/w the atoms or molecules of the gas by giving the pressure ,it's atoms or molecules come close to each other and the inter molecular force would be large by closing of the atoms...So gas changes to liquid or solid as per the pressure given....
hope it helps you

THE INTERMOLECULAR SPACES BETWEEN A SUBSTANCE DEPENDS ON THE INTERMOLECULAR ATTRACTION. AND THIS ATTRACTION BETWEEN MOLECULES DETERMINES THE STATE OF MATTER. THUS IF THE INTERMOLECULAR SPACES ARE REDUCED THE MATTER CONVERTS ITS STATE. IF THE SPACE BETWEEN GAS MOLECULES ARE REDUCED IT CHANGES TO LIQUID AND IF THE PROCESS IS CONTINUED IT CHANGES TO SOLID.

HOPE YOU GOT SOME HELP FROM ME. PLEASE MARK THE ANSWER AS BRAINLIEST...
