if the intermolecular space decreses then it will start change into its solid state. we can decrease the intermolecular space by compressing it
hope it helps u

Hii Mate here is Your Answer,
》What is Intermolecular space?
All the matter made up of particles having some space inbetween which is known as Intermolecular space.
As particles of solid are packed closely they have least intermolecular space whereas more in liquid and most in gas.
》How to decrease intermolecular space?
Intermolecular space cannot be decrease in solid due to its closely packed molecules(least in solid).
Intermolecular space can be decreased by applying pressure and lowering the temperature. As pressure makes the particles of matter to packed closely decreasing intermolecular space. In this process heat may be evolved so temperature should be decreased.
》What happens to a liquid if the intermolecular spaces in it decrease?
Whenever intermolecular space of liquid decreases its particles come closer and became semisolid and may convert to solid state.
And in gases it converts to liquid state but it cannot be done in solids.
