What happens to a nation which depends on an army to keep it strong?

The army takes control of the nation..and establishes a ruler above them..Then it turns into a dictatorship..

It doesn't matter how big an army is, it is whether they are well trained and equipped, for example the British Army isn't huge but they are well - equipped.
A nation which depends on an army to keep it strong will only have one support of the nation and if suddenly for some reason the militia leave them then the nation has a good chance of falling .
