What happens to an acid or a base in water solution ?

An Arrhenius acid is any substance that ionizes when itdissolves in water to give the H+, or hydrogen, ion. An Arrhenius base is any substance that gives the OH-, or hydroxide, ion when it dissolves in water.

water is universal solvent when any base or acid add with H2O it can dissolve into it
