What happens to an animal cell if we placed in a very dilute external medium. Why?

it depends on the concentration of amount of liquid in that medium in ratio with the amount in animal cell of the amount in external! medium is more than that of the animal cell,the animal cell would shrink and if the animal cell has more amount than that of the external ones ,then the animal cell would swell
