1.in hypotonic solution concentration of water is more than the cell so the cell swell up.
2.in hypertonic solution concentration of water is less so the cell shrink.
3.in isotonic solution the medium surrounding the cell is exactly the same of water concentration as the cell so no changes occur in cell.

when cell is placed in hypotonic solution the cell we gain water though osmosis and swell up.....
if cell is placed in hypertonic solution the cell will loose water and shrink.....
if cell is placed in isotonic solution the cell will neither loose nor gain water,there will be no change in its shape...
