Deficiency of proteins and carbs can lead to marasmus and kwashiorkor.
In marasmus the child will become mentally and physically ill. His rib cage would be visible. Symptoms for this disease include- underweight, loose skin, weak body, thin face and thinning of limbs.

Kwashiorkor is a disease which was found in the kids in poverty ridden regions. With the birth of the second child, the first child did not have much to eat. Thus, he became a victim of kwashiorkor. In this disease the kid becomes really thin with protruding tummy. Skin becomes dark and scaly. There will be an oedema of legs and face. Stunted growth and loss of appetite will also be observed
