what happens to length or duration of day when earth shrinks suddenly and ice on polar caps melt​

Answer:

If polar ice caps will melt, water would spread on earth & so its moment of inertia would increase. But by law of conservation of momentum,speed of rotation would decrease so that angular momentum remains constant. As speed of rotation decreases, length of day would increase.
