When CO2 is bubbled through lime water in excess, the lime water first turns milky and then transparent due to formation of Calcium Bicarbonate. The following reaction takes place there:-
Ca(OH)2 + CO2 ------> Ca(HCO3)2
Calcium Bicarbonate is soluble in water and hence lime water turns transparent.
Hope helped..
