Green colour pigment in plants helps it to perform  photosynthesis.

Plants which lack green colour pigment also called (CHLOROPHYLL)

are mostly parasite or partially parasite and they don't perform photosynthesis but depend upon plant in its surroundings by snatching the food prepared by the adjacent plant. This causes the adjacent plant to die.
