When we move across a period from left to right, The atomic size remains the same. if we take the 1st period Hydrogen's electronic configuration is 1 and Helium's electronic configuration is 2.Both the size of Hydrogen as well as Helium remains the same.

When we move down the group the atomic size increases by one shell. For example,Hydrogen will be in a single shell whereas lithium will be having 2 shells. Therefore, they're atomic size increases!
