The force between them will increase 2.25 times.

Explanation:

We know that the force between two objects is directly proportional to the product of masses and inversely proportional to the distance between them. So,

                                      F = G m1 m2/r^2

Now if r’ = 2/3 r then

                                      F’ = 2.25 (G m1 m2/r^2)

                                      F’ = 2.25 F
