the intermolecular spaces become less

if the liquid is been forcefully compressed then it will show decrease in intermolecular distances
if it is crystaline as in the case of water then we will find formation of bond like hydrogen bonding
But in cases where crystallization occurs their is sometimes increase in intermolecular distance and also formation of crystal lattice
Of you want to verify my answer then just try an activity and salt in water and taste it again freeze it and retaste it

NikhilMirkute: thanks aman
amansharma17: ok bhaia
