When a living plant cell looses water through osmosis,there is a shrinkage and contraction of the cell contents of the cell away from cell wall.This phenomenon is known as plasmolysis.

Plants cell will shrink when they loose water content through osmosis. So, as a result, there will be a shrinkage or contraction in the center of the cell, away from cell wall. This phenomenon is plasmolysis
