What happens to the preassure when the area on which it is applied increases?

When the area increases...... the pressure applied decreases.... contact surface area and pressure are inversely proportional......... :)

Pressure increases if the area on which the thrust act decreases. For e.g. If you stand on sand, your leg will sink more but if you lie on the sand, your body won't sink much.
