plant cells are placed in pure water with a cell wall, the cell wall will prevent the cell from swelling. As you may know, the animal and plant cell have a cytoplasm . The plant cell has a vacuole, which is filled with a liquid called cell sap. While the plant cell is in pure water, the vacuole will begin to shrink. This is because the cytoplasm is filling up with water. The cell membrane will then start to separate from the cell wall and will burst a hole in the cell wall, then releasing the water. Therefor the cell does not burst!

THIS IS AWESOME .
