the science behind this is depended on the concept greater the amplitude of sound wave,louder the sound will be and vice versa .The loudness depends on the amplitude of vibration of the source producing the sound waves.
When we whisper the amplitude of the sound wave is quite low therefore the loudness of the sound will also become less and this result in unclear sound.the loudness of sound of people whispering is about 65 db.
