Supply of food will affect in the following ways when there is a disaster or a calamity:

When there is a disaster or any calamity the production of food grains decreases in the affected area. This in turn creates a shortage of food in the affected area. The prices of goods go up due to the shortage of food which in turn affects the purchasing power of the people.

When a disaster or natural calamity such as earthquake, drought, flood, Tsunami occurs or when due to unfavourable weather conditions there is a widespread failure of crops, the food supplies is adversely affected. This result in the inability of food to reach the needy.

Due to a natural calamity, total production of foodgrains decreases. It creates a shortage of food in the affected area. At higher prices, some people cannot afford to buy food. If such a calamity occurs in a widespread area, it may cause a situation of starvation.
