What happens to the tense when the direct changes to indirect? Answer in brief. Along with the students it would be better if the Learnnext experts answer it.

It will changed according to tense .

Like if u have present tense sentence then it will changed to past tense sentence ND in future no change hope this helps you

While changing in indirect speech:

(i)Simple present changes to Simple past tense

(ii)Present continuous tense changes to past continuous tense

(iii)Present perfect changes to past perfect tense.

(iv)Present perfect continuous tense changes to past perfect continuous tense.

(v)Simple past tense changes to Past perfect tense.

(vi)Past continuous tense changes to past perfect continuous tense.

(vi)When there is past perfect tense,then there is no change in the tense.

(vii)When there is past perfect continuous tense, there is no change in the tense.

(viii)Will and Shall changes to Would and Should.

(ix)May and Can changes to Might and Could.
