They need to deorbit and re-enter the Earth's atmosphere. The chances are extremely low of the space objects crashing to Earth.

They become space junk and keep floating around the Earth after they outlive their usefulness. These are very dangerous and harmful, as those space junks may hit any other working satellites or space stations, or may fall back to Earth. There are thousands of space debris of broken down satellites and rocket parts floating around the Earth.
