In a chemical change, the atoms in the reactants rearrange themselves and bond together differently to form one or more new products with different characteristics than the reactants. When a new substance is formed, the change is called a chemical change.

When a chemical reactions occur the elements or compounds participate in the reaction by rearranging their electrons and this rearrangement of electrons leads to formation of new compound..

REACTION OF IONIC COMPOUNDS:

as ionic compounds are due to electrostatic forces only transferring of electrons takes place between compounds or elements

REACTION OF COVALENT COMPOUNDS:

As covalent compounds are made of weak covalent bonds the sharing of electrons takes place between elements or compounds but these are slow reaction s due to bond breaking and bond formation
