When a metal is added to an acid displacement reaction takes place and Hydrogen gas is released with the formation of salt.
Zn + 2HCl = ZnCl2 + H2
The as is hydrogen and this can be identified by introducing a burning splinter/candle/matchstick/fire the fire continues to burn with a pop sound indicating that the gas evolved is hydrogen.

When metal reacts with acid , they produce a salt and hydrogen gas.
For example, Mg + 2HCl = MgCl2 + H2.
Hope this helps u.

chandni11: same to u too
