Whenever a sound wave passes from one medium to another medium it also obeys law of reflection at the interface between two mediums. So when sound passes from one medium to another part of its intensity reflect back in the same medium and remain transmit to the other medium. So the intensity of initial sound wave is divided in two parts hence the intensity of transmitted wave is less than the initial wave. We know, intensity and amplitude depends upon each other like,
So as the intensity of sound wave is decreasing from one medium to another its amplitude also decreases.
