The following reaction is obtained when we react acetyl chloride which is an acid chloride derived from acetic acid with dibenzyl cadmium which has a molecular formula C14H14Cd :

2CH3COCl  +  Cd(CH3)2  ------------------->    2CH3COCH3  + CdCl2

This reaction causes formation of acetone along with cadmium chloride. Cadmium chloride is a hygroscopic solid which is highly soluble in water but slightly soluble in alcohol.
