It depends upon the amount of acid and base which are reacting. If the amount is almost same , then they will neutralise each other .

In stomach , acid is produce in highly acidic form to kill bacteria and other microbes. so the food remains acidic in nature in stomach. The food get basic in nature when it enters the small intestine by the secretions in the small intestine.
