When an acidic solution is mixed with a basic solution they neutralize and form a salt as well as a water.

A chemical reaction in which an acid and a base react proportionally with each other is known as neutralisation or neutralisation (see spelling variants). In a water reaction, neutralisation ensures that there are no extra hydrogen or hydroxide ions in the solution.
