In part, Potassium hydroxide reacts with the alcohol to form a reversible equilibrium, the hydroxide salt formed with Hydroxide reacts with the ethyl iodide to form Etér. Other part, Hydroxide reacts with Ethyl Iodide to form more Ethanol.
