When benzene( C₆H₆) is burned in oxygen (O₂) it releases carbon-dioxide (CO₂) and water (H₂0). This is because benzene is a hydrocarbon and every hydrocarbon burns with a sooty flame in oxygen to release CO₂ and H₂).

Reaction:

2C₆H₆ + 15O₂ --------> 12CO₂ +6H₂0

Hope i helped u:)
