CaCO3 + heat --> CaO + CO2

calcium carbonate is strongly heated until it undergo thermal decomposition to form calcium oxide &carbon dioxide. the calcium oxide is dissolved in water to form calcium hydroxide(limewater) . bubbling carbon dioxide to this form a milky suspension of calcium carbonate.
