Answer:

Calcium Oxide reacts with water and Calcium Hydroxide is obtained. When water is added to Calcium Oxide (quicklime), it will be converted to Calcium Hydroxide (slaked lime) with the liberation of enormous amount of heat. It is an exothermic reaction. ... CaO +H2O -> Ca(OH)2.
