When Carbon (C) is heated with water (H2O) then the followin reaction will occur.

C + H2O ---heat at 100°C----> CO + H2

                                             Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen gas

If further heated then CO reacts with steam and forms carbon dioxide and hydrogen gas

CO + H2O -----> CO2 + H2

Hope it helps you.
