Ca(OH)2 + Cl2 ------> CaOCl2 + H2O

uses are

it is used for removing the existing colour of the cloth
and for cleaning water

When chlorine gas is passed over the dry slaked lime then CalciumOxychloride is formed. That is the bleaching powder.

Ca (OH)2 + Cl2 ----》 CaOCl2 + H2O
The two used of the compound CalciumOxychloride - CaOCl2 are

1) It Is used as an oxidising agent.
2) It is used in cotton textile industries to bleach linen and cotton and also in paper industries to bleach wood pulp.
