Treatment of  chlorobenzene with Cl₂ in the presence of FeCl₃ yields :

Dichlorobenzene

We can write this in equation form.

The equation is as shown below.

Chlorobenzene + Chlorine ( In the presence of FeCl₃) ———> Ortho dichlorobenzene + Para dichlorobenzene
