Chloroform vapor slowly reacts with oxygen in
the presence of light to generate phosgene, a
highly toxic gas.
we know that chloroform is
colourless compound which reacts with
atmospheric oxygen in presence of the light to
give the Phosgene. which is more toxic
than chloroform, and hydrogen chloride, which
is also toxic. Some chloroform may break down
in soil.
