What happens when copper sulphate solution is treated with ammonia solution

When concentrated ammonia solution is added, copious quantities of white smoke are produced, heat is generated and the yellow-green complex turns into a very dark blue copper ammonia complex. The reaction can then be reversed by adding more acid.

Reaction :-

3NH3(g) + CuSO4 = (NH4)2SO4 + Cu + 0.5N2(g) + 0.5H2(g)
