What happens when copper vessel is exposed to moist air for long time?

Okay copper when exposed in the air react and change chemically.

  • Copper reacts with carbon-dioxide to give copper carbonate.
  • Copper reacts with moisture to give copper hydroxide.
  • Copper hydroxide and copper carbonate gives the copper its green new colour.
  • The new copper carbonate and hydroxide forms on the surface of the metal.
