Egg shell is made up of Calcium Carbonate. When added to nitric acid it gives effervescence due to the evolution of CO2 gas.

Egg shell is made up of calcium carbonate(CaCO3).
When we add egg shell in the nitric acid (HNO3) it reacts and form calcium nitrate (Ca (NO3)2) and libreate carbon dioxide and water as the corresponding products of the reaction.
