when an electrolyte is dissolved in water it dissociates into its constituents ions both cation and anions
when electricity is passed through it then obviously it will conduct electricity

Answer:

When an electrolyte dissolves in water, it separates into cations (positively charged) and anions (negatively charged) ions (negatively charged). The electrolyte solution will conduct electricity when power is passed through it, a cation gets reduced at the cathode, and an anion gets oxidized at the anode.
