The ethanol will be converted to CH2=CH2 + h2o  and this is the example of  reaction of ethanol to give unsaturated hydrocarbons

When ethanol is heated with excess sulphuric acid ( H₂SO₄) at 443k , it gets dehydrated to form ethene ( unsaturated hydrocarbon). Here, sulphuric acids acts as an dehydrating agent. The reaction is as follows. ::-


CH₃CH₂OH → CH₂ = CH₂ + H₂O
