When ethanol is oxidized with chromic anhydride in presence of glacial acetic acid, ethanal is form.

● Explanation -
- Ethanol is partially oxidized by CrO3/CH3COOH to ethanal.
CH3CH2OH + 2[O] ---> CH3COOH + H2O

- CrO3/CH3COOH being a weak oxidizing agent, further oxidation doesn't take place.
