Well, normally there are tissues called as epiglottis prevents food from entering in the wind pipe but if by chance a food particle enter the body that would result in several complication . It would result in aspiration and will immediately cause in inflammatory response of lungs. There may be occurence of infection if that happen then "bacterial pneumonia will be the end result. You may have the asthma problems .
But people with strong immune systems can be prevented from much complications.

When we chew the food, the tongue pushes the food into back of throat where it has esophagus and the windpipe.
There is a leaf shaped tissue at the base of Tongue called as Epiglottis which prevents the food from entering windpipe.
If the chewing of food is done correctly the food enters into esophagus and into stomach.
By chance if Food enters the Windpipe then:
1. if we have decent Immune system, a good cough reflex. Then food is coughed backup.
2. If not then it may results in Aspiration , a condition where the person will take the food material to lungs. Then it can lead to an inflammatory diseases in lungs. You may develop excess fluid in lungs as well as infection. It can lead to aspiration pneumonia.

So, Friends, how to prevent the food from not entering Windpipe
Chew the food properly
Do not talk or laugh while eating
