The normal function of Golgi apparatus is to process the proteins usually ferried from nucleus and ER by post-translational modifications like glycosylation. Then, the proteins are tagged, recognized, and carried by various means of cellular trafficking, like endosomes or secretory vesicles. Problems with the Golgi apparatus can lead to accumulation and mislocalization of unwanted proteins in the cytosol and nucleus due to impaired trafficking.

- Formation of acrosome.
- Formation lysosomes & vesicles.
- Transportation of lipids around the cell.
- Modifying, sorting & processing of proteins.
