mgo react with acid as you would expect any simple metal to react .ex - it reacts with warm dilute hydrochloric acid to give magnesium chloride solution.

When Magnesium Oxide (MgO) reacts with Hydrochloric acid (HCl) , Magnesium Chloride (salt) and Water( H2O) are formed.

The reaction that takes place is :

MgO + 2HCl ------- MgCl2 + H2O .
