The compound iron sulphide (FeS) is formed on heating iron (Fe) and sulphur (S). Iron sulphide reacts with dilute hydrochloric acid forms hydrogen sulphide (H2S) gas which turns lead acetate paper into shiny black. Iron sulphide is insoluble in carbon disulphide solvent.
