what happens when living beings fail to adapt to their habitat?
Answers
To first find out the answer:
What is Adaptation exactly??
Well, I'll tell you, the presence of specific features, habits and abilities which helps or enables a plant or an animal to live in a specific or particular habitat, is known as Adaptation.
Get it now?
For example: A cactus adapts to a desert. A Cactus loses very little water through transpiration. The leaves in deserts plants like a Cactus are either absent, really small or in the form of spines. This now helps reducing the amount of water released through transpiration. Their stems are also covered with a thick waxy layer which helps retain water in the tissues of cacti. Most Desert plants like Cactus have roots that go very deep into the soil to absorb water.
Now come on what is transpriration?
When water comes out of the leaves a plant in the form of water vapour it is known as transpiration. You can do a experiment to find out
Take a clear polythene bag and place it on top of a plant, make sure to cover the leaves properly and keep it in the sun. After a few hours you should see tiny droplets of water on the top of the polythene bag and.... there you go! Transpiration!
Now what our main question is...What happens when living beings FAIL to adapt to their habitat?
Well as we learnt those living beings have those specific features that help them to survive in specific or particular habitats.
So what if it doesn't have those specific features? It eventually might start responding to stimuli
Okay thats it! What does stimuli mean now?!
Okay okay.. When changes start happening or occur to our surroundings that makes us respond to them is known as Stimuli
So like when some flowers only bloom at night will that be counted as stimuli?
Yes! Smart! It can be counted as stimuli another example is when a plant commonly known as "Touch me Not" leaves close or fold when someone touches them.
So what is the answer to our main question?
You tell me now!
Hey!
Okay Okay.. The answer will be..
When living beings fall to adapt to their habitat they respond to stimuli
If they are Animals and Human Beings eventually they may become weak and ill, they may also die.
If they are Plants eventually their leaves may start drooping and would dry out and excrete.
