when a mixture of methans and chlorine is exposed to ultraviolet light- tylical sun light - a substitution reaction occurs and the organic product is chloromethane .., I hope this will help u

when react with in presence of sunlight then chloromethane is formed and hydrogen gas released
2CH4 + Cl2 = 2CH3Cl +H2
