The orange coloured dichromate solution turns green due to the formation of chromium 3 sulphate.
This happens when potassium dichromate reacts with sulphur dioxide.
Reaction are as follows:
K2Cr2O7 + H2SO4 +H2O that gives K2SO4 +Cr2(SO4)3 + H2O.
